The 25-year old left wing/centreman has played in the AHL and ECHL, and returns to the ice after missing last season due to what the club described as an ‘‘unfortunate accident.’’

A native of Red Deer, Alberta, Schaber played in the WHL from 2007 to 2012, icing with the Calgary Hitmen and then the Kamloops Blazers - at the latter he was captain of the most successful line-up in recent years.

After a brief stint with the University of Lethbridge, Schaber then joined Idaho Steelheads in the ECHL for 11 games of the 2012-13 season.

He then moved to Bakersfield Condors for two seasons during which time he iced in over 110 games, generating 63 and 49 points respectively.

Season 2014-15 saw Schaber move into the AHL with Oklahoma City Barons for 13 games.

Last season he iced twice with Norfolk Admirals in the ECHL.

Todd Dutiaume said the player came highly recommended- – and said he is fully fit and raring to go for the new season which starts at the end of the month.

He said: “Chase will be a great pick up for us.

‘‘He comes highly recommended, and his colleagues all speak highly of him as a player and person.

“He’ll give us grittiness on the left side. He skates very well and has the capability to put up good offensive numbers for us.

“Chase unfortunately missed last season due to an unfortunate accident, but this has only made him hungrier for the season ahead and he comes in fully fit and ready go.”
