Carlo Finucci was this morning confirmed as the club’s ninth import acquisition of the summer after being released by English Premier League side Swindon Wildcats.

The 29-year-old Canadian forward will fill one of three EU passport holder slots in the 2016-17 roster due to his dual Italian nationality.

Finucci was one of Swindon’s star players last season netting 30 goals and contributing 19 assists in 41 appearances following his arrival in October.

He finished the season as the 14th top goalscorer in the EPL, while his 1.20 points per game ratio placed him 29th in the PPG standings.

Finucci has played in the ECHL and Denmark, as well as the EPL, and Flyers head coach Todd Dutiuame has no doubts that the 5ft 9in, 190lbs left winger is capable of making the step up to the EIHL.

“Carlo was recommended to us and is held in high regard by his peers,” he said.

“He had a good season last year with Swindon and I’m confident he’ll do well in the EIHL.

“He’ll fit in well with what we’re looking to do in Fife this season and I’m looking forward to welcoming him to the team.”

Finucci, who will wear shirt number 40 with the Kirkcaldy club, added: “I am so excited to get the season started in Fife.

“I have heard nothing but great things about the organisation, the town and especially the fans. I can’t wait to play in front of them.”

With just a month to go until the challenge games against German club, EC Peiting, Flyers still have five more import slots to fill, including the key netminder position, as well as an entire Brit pack.

Flyers have meanwhile issued a reminder to fans that the cut off date for season ticket applications is this Sunday, July 31.

The club is also seeking match mascots for the new season. To request an application form, email [email protected].
