The weekend heralded the first of four Fife swimming league events in 2017.
A morning session full of excitement saw several Step Rock swimmers make their league debuts.
Looking most accomplished, a determined Daniel Wilson gained his first ever flash (for swimming too fast) in the 50m breaststroke.
Flashes were also gained by Beinn Anderson (25m breaststroke), Kayla Bain (50m backstroke) and Jack Anderson (50m freestyle).
Top three finishes came from Archie Suttie (first, 25m backstroke), Cameron Brough (first, 25m freestyle) and Jack Webster (second, 50m butterfly) while in the nominated swims (50m and 100m backstroke), Kaitlyn Lumsden (third), Beinn Anderson (first) and Jasmine Latto (second) all raced to podium places.
Final success of the morning was a win for Step Rock in the boys 9-and-under relay, the immense team spirit adding to the atmosphere on poolside.
A team of 24 swimmers represented the club in the afternoon’s Fife League, some hoping for crucial entry times for upcoming national meets and squads.
Stepping up to this level were Freya Hedley, Maddy Wallard, Tara Wallace, Anna Suttie, Isla Thoms, Orla Suttie, Abbey Wallace, Esmee Thoms and Fraser Stewart – all achieved new PBs or first-time swims.
Fraser, in particular, swam superbly, taking first place in both the 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle.
Angus McCallum stormed to victory in the 50m and 100m backstroke.
Anna Hedley raced to second place and a new PB in the 100m butterfly, unfortunately also a nullified SNAGs time.
The 50m backstroke was a great team effort, with 13 out of the 14 Step Rock swimmers in the event recording PBs.
Other top three finishes came from Charlie Gillespie (first, 100m freestyle), Hamish Noble (second, 100m backstroke), Bernat Tortajada (third, 100m backstroke) and Isla Hedley (third, 100m freestyle).
