Flyers go all festive with a special CHAS strip ...

The limited edition CHAS tops will be worn on December 18, and then auctioned off for the Kinross-based organisation.

The event is the latest in a 20 year partnership with CHAS which has so far raised over £40,000.

The first donation was made in November 1996, so this year marks a special anniversary.

Back then, the charity looked after 13 families, but now helps 450. It is the only charity in Scotland that provides hospice services for children and young people with life-shortening conditions.

Holli Wilks, from CHAS, said: “We cannot thank Fife Flyers players, staff, fans and sponsors enough for the amazing support they have shown us during the last 20 years.”

Flyers’ links with CHAS were created by the then player-coach Mark Morrison.

He had been collecting toys and donations and taking them to the hospice in Kinross, and he went on to become a volunteer with the organisation, spending a lot of time with the youngsters and their families.

He also set up an open invite for anyone from Rachel House to attend any games as guests of the team – and even had kids on ice for fun scrimmage games.

The club was also one of the first pro sports teams in Scotland to carry a charity’s badge on their official strips.

The link has continued throughout the years with many fundraising events at the rink, all hugely supported by fans.
