Flyers legend Danny Brown returns to Fife

Danny Brown, who formed part of the fabled Plumb Line which won the 1985 British championship crown, will make a special visit to Fife Ice Arena to see Flyers take on Nottingham Panthers.

And it’ll be a special personal night too as Danny’s son, Jeff, will play for Panthers in the very rink where his dad was a hero.

Danny wrote his name into Flyers’ record books as part of the all-conquering team of 1985.

He joined the club that season along with inspirational player-coach Ron Plumb and goalscorer extraordinary, Dave Stoyanovich, and they played to huge crowds during the Heineken era.

The trio guided Flyers all the way to Wembley where they won the British championship crown – and every subsequent team was bench marked against their achievements until Mark Morrison’s Grand Slam team of 2000.

Brown delivered 82 goals and 75 assists that season, and he was named in the league’s All-Star first team by hockey writers.

Interestingly that entire team came from just two clubs, Fife and Edinburgh!

The all-star line-up was Moray Hanson, Chris Kelland, Plumb, Brown and Stoyanovich.

Danny was most recently back in the Kingdom to celebrate Flyers’ 75th anniversary season where he was reunited with his old line-mates.

On Sunday he will drop the puck before the Fife-Nottingham game.

Brown jnr came to Nottingham “highly recommended” by his former coaches and team mates, after a spell with Brampton in his second year as a pro hockey player.
