Fife Flyers have secured the signing of long-serving defenceman Chris Wands for another season.

The 27-year-old returns for a 12th season having made his Flyers debut aged 15 in the British National League back in 2005.

Kirkcaldy-born Wands returned from injury last season to win club awards including British Player of the Year, Most Improved Player and Goal of the Year, for his memorable solo effort in a 3-2 win over Cardiff Devils on January 31.

Wands said: “I’m delighted to be back for another season in Fife.

“It’s a great organization to be a part of and I’m looking forward to getting on the ice with the team and getting the season underway.”

Head coach Todd Dutiaume added: “It’s great to get Wando back for another season coming off a solid finish last season.

“He battled his way back into the line-up and has continued to make strides this off season.

“We will be counting on him to be steady and dependable back there and when he does this, he is at his best.”
