The Fifers are nursing a series of niggling knocks across the first team so the gaffer is keen to ensure they’re not allowed to develop.

The Methil club had organised the game in the absence of a competitive fixture due to the weekend’s international break.

Naysmith, whose side were beaten 1-0 by Stenhousemuir on Saturday, said: “The break has come at the right time for us.

“Chris Kane, Jonathan Page and Kevin Smith have been nursed through games.

“Ryan Goodfellow is another and we picked up some more against Stenhousemuir.

“Scott Mercer’s ankle is swollen and Mark Lamont needed to ice his leg.

“We just have to watch, so this is a chance to give the players a break and try to get some fitness back for the Queen’s Park game by which time we’ll be over the Stenhousemuir result..

“We need to use that game to go on another run.”
