AMsoccer Club is quickly developing a reputation for being one of the country’s best breeding grounds for young footballers.

Senior clubs in both the Scottish and English premier leagues have been lining up at the door of the Cupar based organisation, hoping to form an official partnership with it due to its coaching structure and proven track record in player development.

Another Kingdom academy which aims to get young players into senior clubs is Fife Elite, a development body formed by the amalgamation of Dunfermline, Raith Rovers, Cowdenbeath and East Fife’s youth structures.

The two have this week announced an official partnership.

AMsoccer founder Austin MacPhee explained: “This means that our most talented players will have the opportunity to train with them and, if the young player enjoys it, and FE decides they are performing at the appropriate level, then they will move from AMsoccer to FE on a permanent basis.”

Citing three main reasons for choosing FE, MacPhee added: “Firstly, if they sign with Fife Elite they have four opportunities to be a professional footballer as at the end of their under-17 year all Fife clubs will consider offering them a contract.

“Globally I think this is unique.

“Secondly, they are based in Fife and travel time to training is therefore manageable and allows the players to also keep up with their academics.

“Lastly we are very impressed with the structure, organisation and investment and we are excited to see them grow. This also gives our coaches a target for progression into the professional game.”

The link is already bearing fruit, with AM academy players Dino Leddie (U15s), William Reid and Lewis McGlashan (both U10s) signing with Fife Elite following impressive spells on trial.

Fife Elite head of youth Stephen Wright said: “I am delighted that we have such an esteemed club working with us to promote the opportunity of playing football at elite level in Scotland for Fife based players.”
