The windy conditions were dictating the play as both teams suffered in their attempts to try and play football.

More often than not it meant very little risks were taking as the ball bypassed the midfield with Armadale and KSH more content to get the ball away from the danger area than try to play their normal passing game.

With their first real foray into the Armadale penalty box an instinctive volley from Band struck the arm of the Thistle defender and the referee immediately pointed to the penalty spot.

Wilson stepped up and calmly swept the ball past the home goalkeeper.

Armadale equalised within two minutes.

A sweeping move down the right saw an in-swinging cross driven into the six yard box, the young forward showed great bravery as he dived full length to head the ball past Paterson.

KSH were beginning to have the bulk of the attacks and Band saw a flashing header clawed past the post by the Thistle number one.

With 10 minutes remaining Simpson replaced Wilson and his first involvement brought the second goal the away side craved.

The midfielder saw his free kick spin into the air into a cluster of players, the ball broke kindly for Band who made no mistake.

Inside the last few minutes the goal that sealed the victory was somewhat bizarre.

The elements had played a part all day and a wind assisted kick from Paterson inside his own penalty area sailed down field.

The home ‘keeper was off his line as he suddenly realised the ball was heading goalwards.

A despairing dive was not enough as the ball crept towards the line.

Band did what all good forwards do as he raced past the stricken ‘keeper and nod home from a yard out.
