Ava Stark: An appeal from Raith goalkeeper Kevin Cuthbert

Cuthbert pulled off several terrific saves to keep a clean sheet in Saturday's goalless draw at East End Park, but before the match, kind-hearted 'Cat' was touched by an article in the Dunfermline Athletic match day programme that highlighted Ava's condition.

The young Pars fan from Lochgelly has a rare blood disease and her only hope of survival is a bone marrow transplant. However, at this time a suitable donor has not been found.

Anyone aged between 17 and 55 and in reasonable health can register as a donor via www.dkms.org.uk/en or www.anthonynolan.org.

In a bid to raise funds and awareness for the cause, the Rovers 'keeper has signed the actual gloves he wore at East End Park and donated them to be auctioned.

Cuthbert explained: "Football derbies are great, but there are more important things in life.

"When you see something like this, everybody from Fife will come together.

"I've got two daughters myself and God forbid anything like that would happen.

"If Dunfermline and Raith fans want to try to bid for the gloves, and whatever we get for them would be great."

Secret bids for Cuthbert's gloves may be made by emailing [email protected] by no later than 5.00 p.m tomorrow (Tuesday) stating the amount of your bid, and giving a contact telephone number.

The winner will be announced on Tuesday evening.
