Dundonald Bluebell were left cursing their exit from the Scottish Junior Cup at the weekend.

Despite having lead Cumnock twice during the 3-2 defeat, the side was unable to ensure a passage through to the next round.

Callum Young scored both goals for the Bluebell on a cold and snowy afternoon.

He opened the scoring following some good work from Orrick before Dundonald were pegged back.

But Young again proved deadly by netting a second when Orrick was fouled in the box.

Young stepped up and made no mistake.

One more though Cumnock managed to peg Bluebell back before going on to win the tie.

This weekend Bluebell host local rivals Thornton Hibs.

Despite not being at their best, Thornton battled hard against Edinburgh United in their East Premier League game and returned to the Kingdom with a 2-2 draw.

Shaun Stevens opened for the hosts until Thornton’s Lea Schiavone equalised by calmly picking his spot high in Connar Easton’s goal.

Jordan Hopkinson restored United’s lead but, once again, Thornton worked their way back into the game and when Garry Thomson was brought down in the box in the 77th minute it looked like a penalty every day of the week but the ref waved away protests.

With five minutes to go Ryan McEwan, on his debut, made things all square.

Kirkcaldy YM’s game with West Calder Utd was called off but the two will try to meet this weekend.
