New Dundonald Bluebell boss Craig Morrison guided his side to a major scalp on Saturday, tossing Super League side Kelty Hearts out of the East of Scotland Cup.

The Bluebell won the match 3-2 thanks to goals from Carstairs, Wallace and Shaw.

On a windy afternoon at Moorside, Dundonald managed to get themselves into a 3-1 lead only for Hearts to pull one back.

The visitors then had the ball in the net late on but the effort was ruled out for offside.

Delighted boss Morrison said: “It was always going to be a firm test with the arrival of high flying Kelty Hearts for this exciting cup tie.

“I thought the shape, application and all round attitude was excellent and when the chances fell to us we took them.

“This is a good result for all involved and will build confidence throughout the squad, however the focus must now be on our league fixture away to Tayport and we’ll start preparing accordingly.

“All in all, myself and the management team are extremely happy with the performance and result.”

At the weekend Bluebell travel to face Tayport in a crunch East Premier Division promotion tie.

Kirkcaldy YM were unable to return to the Kingdom with any North Division points following their trip to meet Arbroath Vics.

The Vics were simply too strong for the Denfield side on the day and ran out comfortable 4-0 winners.

On Saturday YM welcome Blairgowrie in the league.

Thornton Hibs, who had their fixture at the weekend called off, visit Kirriemuir Thistle.
