With a new management team in place and new signings on show expectations were high among the Cardenden crowd.

The first half was a pretty even affair with both teams failing to gain the upper hand.

Dundonald had the best chances of the half when Orrick was denied with a fine tackle just has he was about to shoot.

Young was also in on goal but he delayed his shot and the chance was lost.

As the half drew to a close Camelon put the home side under pressure but failed to score.

Five minutes into the second half Camelon thought they had taken the lead but it was ruled offside.

Dundonald weathered the storm and took the lead when Lawrie scored with a header.

Only a fine save stopped Young from increasing the lead and Lawrie should have got his second goal when he took the ball from the Camelon defender but with just the ‘keeper to beat he delayed and allowed the defence to recover.

In injury time Dundonald goalkeeper Lennox pulled off a great save when he tipped the ball over the bar to ensure victory for his team.

This was good win for Dundonald in their first ever Super League match but they know they will have to keep and use the ball better in this league.
