‘Port retain an outside chance of promotion, but even making the play-off spot would appear to be a tall order.

The current table is somewhat skewed, as all the teams in the mix have played varying numbers of games.

Six clubs are above Tayport at the moment and four of them have superior records.

Dalkeith are just a couple of points better off than John Ovenstone’s men, who have four games in hand on tomorrow’s opponents.

So, a win at King’s Park would see ‘Port leapfrog Thistle and, depending on other results, gain some ground in the promotion race.

Ovenstone certainly still believes his troops can be in the mix and hopes ‘Port can replicate last weekend’s form.

He said: “The players executed our game-plan to perfection and the win was a big boost.

“Everyone played their part and it turned out to be a great day at the office. I was delighted with the clean sheet. We played good football and pressed the opposition from start to finish.

“We’re into the semi-finals of the tournament and we are confident we can carry that form into the remaining league matches.”

Gary Sutherland and Daniel Sanchez should be in contention.
