We reported last week of online efforts made by both teams to bring in extra funding to their respective clubs.

Tayport have launched a Just Giving page, while Newburgh joined the Donate a Ticket scheme, which allows fans to donate the entrance fee they would have paid for Saturday’s game to the club, despite it being off.

The East Shore Park side, at the time of writing, had made almost £400.

The club said: “Many thanks to everyone who has contributed to the Newburgh’s donate a ticket campaign so far.

“This season’s remaining fixtures have now officially been cancelled.

“The correct decision given the current COVID-19 crisis.

“We are delighted to be able to take part in the donate a ticket campaign that has been organised to help clubs through the difficult times we are all facing at the moment.

“Every sum donated, large or small, will help keep the club operating in these difficult times.”

Tayport fans have been backing the Canniepairt club too, raising £2500 at the time of writing.

The club this week said: “The club is delighted with the response and would like to express its wholehearted appreciation to all those who have contributed. With all matches, social and fundraising activities still in lockdown, all donations are gratefully received.”
