Newburgh, Carnegie Swimming Club and Kennoway Star Hearts Football Club have received cash grants totalling a combined £10,023, thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund in partnership with sportscotland.

The funding comes from National Lottery Awards for All Scotland – a quick and simple way to access small National Lottery grants of between £300 and £10,000. The grants have been made possible thanks to National Lottery players, who raise £30 million each week for good causes across the UK.

Newburgh have received £5,273 to alter the layout of their existing changing facilities to ensure they comply with league standards for male and female members of their new youth football teams. The club will also provide a non-gender specific toilet for people with disabilities.

Club secretary, Graham Strachan, said: “We were delighted to have received the award from sportscotland and the National Lottery as the funding will allow Newburgh FC to adapt our facilities to open them up for a wider range of people.

“A private changing area with showering facilities is something we have always lacked.”

Chief Executive of sportscotland, Stewart Harris, said: “This funding from The National Lottery will make a huge difference to clubs and communities the length and breadth of the country. The grants will help improve sporting opportunities as part of Scotland’s world-class sporting system for all.

“A huge thanks must go National Lottery players – without their contribution today’s investment on sports clubs and physical activity organisations would not have been possible.”
