Bayview gaffer Gary Naysmith said his job to attract players to sign for the Methil club is being made easier by success on the park and positive developments off it.

The Methil boss has added Willie Muir, Chris Duggan and Chris Kane to his side with Kyle Wilkie, courted by a host of full-time side, also staying on.

The manager revealed how he’s been able to persuade those players to sign up at Bayview.

He said: “The players we already have here are a big help.

“People look at guys like Kevin Smith and Jonathan Page and know that we have quality already here.

“There are other things which are a big help as well.

“Training at Heriot Watt, which is one of the best facilities in Europe, means the lads coming from Glasgow and places like that aren’t having to spend as much money travelling.”

On the park, the Fifers learned their League Cup group this week.

Naysmith’s men will face Dundee, Dumbarton, Peterhead and Forfar Athletic in Group A of the Betfred League Cup.

“I’ve already spoken to the chairman about the League Cup games,” said Naysmith.

“Although we want to win every game we play, I’ll be using them more as pre-season games and making sure that everybody gets plenty of minutes.”

The Fifers expected to hear the dates of their League Cup games as we were going to press.
