Leven United are hoping football fans will turn out in force and help them reach the semi-finals of the Innovatus Sports Scottish Amateur Cup.

The Levenmouth club are the Kingdom’s only representatives left in the national tournament.

They reached the quarters at the weekend, seeing off fancied East Kilbride.

East Kilbride took the lead before Steph Anderson equalised.

They went ahead with 20 minutes to go through Wullie Herd before East Kilbride equalised 10 minutes later.

Extra time followed with neither side able to get their noses in front.

It went to a penalty shootout and the local club kept their nerve.

They’ll now welcome Linlithgow Thistle to King George V Park on Saturday at 2.00p.m.

Boss Dougie Herd said: “This weeks quarter final against Linlithgow Thistle is a massive game for our football club. We are extremely proud to be Fife’s sole representative and fingers crossed with a great local backing we can go one step further into the semi’s.

“The boys have had a great run in a very difficult competition and its down to hard work throughout the club from committee, players and fans.”
