With training facilities and gyms closed it means the emphasis will be on the individual players to do what they can on their own to keep their fitness levels high.

“They’ve all been given a programme to do and it’s up to them now really,” said the Fife boss.

“That’s just where we are and we have to trust the players.

“But I know the squad and the type of players we have and I know they’ll all do it.

“It’s difficult for them, though, physically and mentally.

“When we break for pre-season they have a date to work towards over two or three weeks but there’s nothing like that.

“But it’s the same for everyone.”

Heading towards what would be the final full month of the season, this should be a busy time for the Fife boss with the current campaign being played out and thoughts turning to the next.

“We have nine or ten guys signed up for next season so we already have a good base,” said the manager.

“There are two or three others I’ve spoken to about next season but that’s all on hold and we’ll just have to wait.”

The Scottish FA has confirmed there will be no competitive football until May at the earliest.
