Coronavirus: Raith Rovers tribute night postponed

The Former Players Assocation/Rovers Down South tribute night scheduled to take place on Friday, March 27 in the Raith Suite at Stark's Park will no longer take place.

Former players from the 1960s up to the present day, including the likes of Alan Miller, Brian Cooper, Derek Murray, Bobby Stein, Tommy Hislop, Jock McStay, Peter Hetherston, Ross Callachan and Lewis Vaughan, had all been confirmed to attend the sold-out event.

Organiser Bill Gilby explained: "We've taken the decision to postpone the Former Players' Association/Rovers Down South tribute night.

"With elderly players and supporters involved, eight people travelling up from down south, and continuing uncertainty, the decision was inevitable.

Refunds will be offered for those who purchased the £35 tickets, however, Bill indicated that some have offered to donate the cash to the club.

"We've consulted those who've made the main bookings as well as the committee members involved and the FPA about how to proceed given that this was to be a major fundraiser for the club, before the additional implications of the league suspension," he added.

"We generated £1700+ in ticket sales and many have indicated a willingness to forego any rebate, although clearly that will not be the case for everyone.

"Anyone requiring a rebate will have the full £35 reimbursed. After that we'll donate the bulk of the sales to the club and make a modest donation to Kirkcaldy Foodbank.

"We'll organise an online auction of the items originally intended for auction/raffle on the night to provide additional funds to the club.

"Those foregoing a rebate will get discounted entry to the reconvened event."
