Craig has Kennoway Star at his Heart

At the weekend Levenmouth footballer Johnstone signed with Kennoway Star Hearts, the club he made his name with at amateur level before Stevie Crawford signed him for the Methil club.

The left back spent four years at Bayview where he became a firm favourite with the fans before joining Arbroath where he has played the past couple of seasons.

But work commitments meant he was unable to take up the offer of a six month deal at Gayfield and instead returned to the club where it all started.

“I’ve always said that I wanted to go back and play for Kennoway again,” said Johnstone.

“But I didn’t want to go back a few years later as an old boy.

“I’m only 31 so still have a lot left to offer.

“I spoke with the manager, Alex Davidson, and he was telling me how he wants the club to be a lot more professional.

“I’ve been helping out with the coaching there for a couple of years anyway so know how good a team is.

“Hopefully we can kick on next season.

“It’s only the club’s third year in the juniors and already they’re up to the Premier League.

“Kevin Byers is coming back as assistant manager and we’ll have that bit more experience next season.

“It’s looking good.”
