Former Dundonald Bluebell boss Craig Morrison has taken the helm at St Andrews United after Ian Barrett stood down.

Barrett will stay with the Saints, though, and has joined the committee of the club to help over see things behind the scenes.

The reshuffle came in a week when the Saints put on a spirited performance in their derby with Tayport, rescuing a point in a thrilling 2-2 draw.

United had trailed 2-0 at the Canniepairt until late goals levelled matters.

Morrison is aiming for a double success in the East Premier League, having managed Bluebell to promotion to the Super League last term.

He’ll be backed in the post by Lee Duffy as assistant manager.

Out-going manager Barrett reckons the club is on safe hands with his replacement.

The former boss known Morrison well, and says the right man for the job.

Barrett said: “I knew Craig was wanting to get back into football again so the time seemed right for him to come in and I’d move to co-chairman and help out behind the scenes.

“The Premier is a league he knows well, getting promotion with Dundonald last season.”
