Crucial Dundee clash ahead for St Andrews

St Andrews boss Craig Morrison pitched himself into the side which faced Whitburn.

Craig Morrison’s side remain in the relegation zone in the East Premier League but will have been kicking themselves after dropping two crucial points on Saturday.

At 3-1 up against Whitburn, another of those fighting to beat the drop, United only had to close the game out.

But the visitors came storming back in the closing stages and managed to salvage a draw.

It leaves Saints still some four points adrift of safety and having played more games than those around.

Having those points in the bag may work out in the club’s favour later on in the season - but they must start stringing some wins together.

They won’t have a better opportunity than this weekend when they travel to meet the side which props up the division.

From their last six league matches Dundee Violet have taken 0 points, scoring six goals and conceding 19.

Should Saints continue their recent run of good performances, which haven’t always brought the rewards they should, then this may be the game which kick starts the final part of the season.

Currently sitting one place above United are Fife rivals Glenrothes who recently parted company with manager John Martin. They host Downfield.
