A 93rd minute own goal at the weekend saved them the long journey to the west coast for a Scottish Cup third round replay.

The visitors to Duffus Park were Ayrshire Second Division side Largs Thistle and despite taking the lead and twice they dealt themselves a devastating blow when captain Stuart Turley headed into his own net deep into added time.

Ryan McMunn opened the scoring for Largs with only seven minutes played when he nodded in from the back post.

Two minutes later Hearts were level when Lee Sibanda was fouled and the referee pointed to the spot.

The same man stepped up and easily placed his penalty into the right-hand corner.

Sibanda doubled his tally on the half hour mark when he connected with a cross after a Morgan Dow throw.

Another penalty, this time at the other end after a handball, was dispatched by Brendan Hill making it 2-2.

Just before the break Largs ‘keeper David Cunningham denied a clear goal scoring opportunity when he handled the ball outside the box.

The referee only showed him yellow but justice was served when Grant Blyth sent his free kick off the underside of the crossbar and in.

Largs found their equaliser on 66 minutes when George Hawkins headed in from close range.
