Rosyth Civil Service...........2

Title contenders Rosyth Civil Service were the visitors to Duffus Park looking to keep the pressure on league leaders Bowhill Rovers while Hearts were looking to build on last week’s win over Eastvale.

Cupar were without number one ‘keeper James Robson so outfield player Daniel Lang bravely pulled on the gloves and took his place between the sticks.

Straight from the kick off Cupar’s Scott McKay was through on goal but took a touch too many and the ball was cleared for a corner which was then volleyed over by Gary Sutherland.

Goalkeeper Daniel Lang was relatively untroubled during the first half. Robert Kinnaird for the visitors, under pressure, fired wide on 23 minutes. Then Steven Learmont latched onto a poor goal kick but his shot was off target.

Cupar had their chances though, first a Gary Sutherland cross found Daniel Mason but his shot was straight at the ‘keeper. Then a spectacular long throw right into the box by Scott McKay had no takers.

A good shot by Stephen Lawlor was matched by visiting goalie Kris Bower with a diving save on 43 minutes.

Once again the half time break did Hearts no favours and only 4 minutes into the second period they found themselves trailing the game.

A Rosyth shot rattled the crossbar before Craig Anderson blasted the ball home.

Rosyth wrapped up the game with six minutes remaining.

Sub Martin Woods scored with his first touch of the game after Robert Kinnaird capitalised on a defensive mix up between Charles Anderson and Michael Taylor.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Cupar Hearts travel to face Kettle United in the 1st round of the Scottish Brewers Cup.
