Cupar Hearts.......................9

Cupar Hearts were on Scottish Cup duty last Saturday when they made the journey to face Lothian and Edinburgh side Lanark in the second round.

Hearts had to contend with a poor surface and only took a narrow one goal advantage into the break.

Jakub Dobes opened the scoring on nine minutes when he headed home after an incredible long throw by Scott McKay.

Cupar made a double substitution 10 minutes into the second period that completely changed the game.

Morgan Dow and Lee Sibanda entered the fray and with their first touch of the ball doubled Cupar’s lead.

Dow found Sibanda and his cross was perfectly placed for Scott McKay to score from close range.

Provider turned goal scorer two minutes later when Lee Sibanda powered home Cupar’s third.

Then Morgan Dow got himself on the scoresheet with a great finish.

Hearts were unstoppable and a cheeky chip over the ‘keeper by Lee Sibanda saw him notch his second.

Another assist by Morgan Dow set up Jakub Dobes on 68 minutes.

His first shot came back off the ‘keeper but he fired in the rebound.

Cupar were awarded a penalty after Sibanda was brought down by the ‘keeper and he stepped up and dispatched the spot kick.

Scott McKay grabbed his double with 10 minutes remaining.

A neat one-two with Sibanda saw him cut inside the post and slide the ball into the net.

Hearts weren’t finished yet and Lee Sibanda fired home Cupar’s ninth.

That emphatic win sees Hearts extend their unbeaten run to eight games in all competitions.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Cupar Hearts face Bowhill Rovers in a league match.
