Balgonie Scotia..................0

Despite a disappointing league campaign all hope for silverware is not lost for Cupar Hearts who booked themselves into the semi-final of the Scottish Brewers Cup.

It was a lacklustre game devoid of any real goal-mouth action and no feel of a cup tie.

Hearts opened the scoring on 15 minutes when Lee Sibanda fired Aaron Leadbetter’s cross in off the post.

A free kick for Scotia was the closest they came in the first half after a foul by Charles Anderson. Martin Payne did well to curl the ball round the wall but it went wide.

This neat passing play would be the key to unlocking Cupar’s second goal which came on 71 minutes. After a string of quick passes Lee Sibanda’s cross was finished off with a left-footed shot by Aaron Leadbetter. The ‘keeper couldn’t keep a hold and the ball rolled into the net.

Balgonie hit back through Martin Payne but his shot from distance was easily saved.

A good break by Cupar saw Gary Brown thread an excellent ball through to Lee Sibanda but the referee deemed him to be offside.
