Defeat to bottom club is a missed chance for Bluebell

Dundonald faced bottom club Fauldhouse knowing that a victory would keep them in the top half of the table.

The game was only two minutes old when Dundonald had a great chance to take the lead but Quinn’s shot hit the post.

The same player had another opportunity to score but he put his shot wide.

Fauldhouse showed they were dangerous in possession when they carved out a good chance but the striker pulled his shot wide.

McKenzie had the next chance of the match but his shot was well saved.

Dundonald fell behind when a long ball forward caused some indecision in their defence which allowed the Fauldhouse striker the time and space to score.

The home side should have equalised before the break when McKenzie was put through but with just the ‘keeper to beat he couldn’t find the net.

Dundonald put Fauldhouse under pressure early in the second half when, after some good play, Young was unlucky not to get on the end of Quinn’s cross.

Another moment of indecision caused Dundonald to fall further behind as full back Stuart McDonald was caught on the ball inside his own half and when he tried to make up for his mistake he brought down his opponent inside the box.

A penalty was awarded from which Fauldhouse scored.

Dundonald reduced the deficit when substitute Anthony fired a lose ball into the net.

Orrock could have levelled the score when he was one on one with the keeper but elected to pass instead of shooting.

The same player had another chance in the dying minutes of the match but could not force the ball over the line.

This was game Dundonald really wanted to win as it would have put them 15 points ahead of the bottom club but a combination of missed chances and poor decision making cost them dearly.
