Jeanfield Swifts 0, Glenrothes Juniors 2

Glens started the game with a depleted team with four regulars missing from the line-up.

The home side had the first opportunity to take the lead but an excellent tackle from Greirson saved the danger. At the other end, Simpson had the ball in the net but was clearly offside.

On the 20-minute mark, Glens conceded a free kick in a dangerous position from which Deans shot straight at Smith. The game was now opening up and a long range shot from Simpson was easily saved by Bruce.

After some sparring in mid-field, Reid had an effort saved by Smith and a minute later the same player was shown a yellow card for stupidly kicking the ball away when a decision did not go his way.

In a two minute spell everything seemed to involve this player when an excellent chance came his way to open the scoring only for him to head over from six yards.

The home side were finishing the half stronger and another excellent chance fell their way but Mackie blasted the ball over when composure was needed.

Glens were awarded a penalty when Thomson was pulled down in the box and Simpson stepped up to convert. The goal seemed to give the Glens a belief that they could get more out of the game.

On 65 minutes, Glens conceded another foul, 25 yards from goal, from which Mackie struck the crossbar.

The home side started to step their game up, looking from the equaliser. However, they lost the ball in the Glens half with the ball breaking to Celentano who ran 40 yards only for his effort to be parried out by Bruce. The ball broke kindly to McCrae who bulleted it into the net.

A minute later, an effort from Paterson scraped the top of the crossbar.

Glens travel to the league leaders Fauldhouse United on Saturday. Kick-off is at 2.30 p.m.
