Donation will help boost club's community hub

AM Soccer Club has recently been handed a £1500 donation from Tesco’s Cupar store which the football side will use to spruce up the rundown old pavillion it has recently taken a lease out on.

The building will provide a hub for members of the club and recreational players who enjoy some of the casual sports classes in the area.

Lindsay Sharp from AM Soccer said: “We deliver sports activities for pre-school children, right up to over 50s’ walking football classes and we want people, regardless of age and ability to be able to enjoy our hub at Duffus Park, Cupar.

“This will lead to healthier minds and bodies for all and the financial support from Tesco is a significant in helping us deliver that goal.”

Since it was established in 2006 by former professional and UEFA-licensed coach Austin MacPhee, now assistant manager at Heart of Midlothian, AM Soccer has received praise for its innovative approach to the game.

Tesco store manager, Sharon Duchan said: “Along with focusing on customer service in our stores, supporting the local community is important to us.

“AM Soccer has more than 500 players of all ages attending its classes each week and has a fantastic track record of developing local talent by focusing on improving technical ability and game awareness.

“The donation is going to help, amongst other things, to create a clean and safe social space for players aged five to 70 years old and we are delighted to be able to support the club in this way.”
