The fixture list across the country will sit empty again this weekend as precautions are taken against the spread of Coronavirus.

A debate on what to do with the current league standings rumbles on, with some quarters suggesting the divisions should end as they are now with those currently at the top winning the title and clubs at the bottom relegated.

But Bayview gaffer Young says it’s far to soon to be making a call of that significance and reckons it should be given another few weeks at least.

He said: “I don’t think there’s any way we can end the season early; that would be ridiculous to be honest.

“It’s all a bit of a nightmare because we had been doing well and were looking forward to the game against Montrose and had prepared for it.

“It’s just one of those things and obviously peoples’ health is more important than football.”

With players’ contracts not expiring until the start of June, the Bayview boss reckons there’s plenty of time yet to make a deicsion on getting the season finished.

“We need to give it more time because at the moment we’re reading so many different stories about it,” he said.

“Contracts don’t end until June 9 and there are other players on two year deals.

“There’s no reason why we can’t play Tuesday-Saturday to catch up.”

All local football was wiped out at the weekend, with the Scottish Football Association blowing the whistle on the game at all levels until further notice.

The Scottish FA and SPFL will continue to liaise with governments and UEFA.
