FALKIRK JUNIORS 1 DUNDONALD BLUEBELL 3
Dundonald Bluebell are the Christmas number ones in the East Region Premier League after fine away win on Saturday.
The Cardenden side travelled to Grangemouth for their last game before the Christmas break but found themselves under early pressure and only a good save from goalkeeper Lennox stopped them from going behind.
The visitors learned from this early scare and took the lead when Young headed Lennox’s kick out onto Meilke who slotted the ball into the net.
A moment of hesitation in the Dundonald’s defence gave Falkirk an opening but a great last gasp tackle by Jordon Laird averted the danger.
The visitors increased their lead, somewhat against the run of play, when Anthony made a fine run down the right side before cutting inside and firing the ball into the net.
Dundonald got the perfect start to the second half when Young headed Wallace’s fine free kick into the net for 3-0.
The visitors had the game well under control for a large portion of this half but gave Falkirk an opening when a moment’s hesitation between the full back and goalkeeper allowed the home side to score.
With time running out a great ball from Orrick put Young in on goal but he delayed and the chance was lost.
Dundonald go into the new year top of the league and if they can keep up their current form you would not bet against them being there at the end of the season.
Both Kirkcaldy YM and Thornton Hibs saw their weekend matches postponed.
Dundonald and Thornton will both take part in the inaugural Kelty Hearts Festive Tournament
The semi-finals, which take place at Central Park this Sunday, will see Rosyth and Bluebell kick things off at 10.45 a.m before hosts Kelty take on Hibs at 1.30 p.m.
The third/fourth place play-off takes place the following Sunday, January 3, at 10.45 a.m before the final at 1.00 p.m.
