Early silverware for Scotia while Hibs see off Crossgates

The local amateur football sides continue to play friendly matches in the hope the season proper will get underway next month.

Balgonie Scotia hit the goal trail with a 7-0 win over Strathmiglo United in their opponent’s pre season tournament. Cumbie Bowers, Liam McWatt, Lewis Hutton and doubles from Dale Smith and Greg Curtis secured victory for the Coaltown who were winning the trophy for the third successive season.

Goals from Adam James, Callum Beaton and Steven Patterson saw Glenrothes Amateurs fight back from 3-0 down against Duloch to force a 3-3 draw.

Derry Hendry netted for Markinch Amateurs, it proved to be just a consolation as the John Dixon Park side lost out 3-0 to Auchtermuchty Bellvue.

Stuart Smith was Leslie Hearts scorer in a 6-1 loss against Kennoway.

The club’s under 17s defeated Kettle United U19’s 3-0 as part of their pre-season build-up.

The scorers were Kyle Lawson, Jackson Adie and Kierren Ritchie.

Hibs are scheduled to start their league season on October 10 at home to Edinburgh South.
