East Fife boss wants his side to hit the goal trail

East Fife may be without a league win in their opening three fixtures, but there’s certainly no panic at Bayview.

It’s been a difficult opening to the new campaign for the Fifers, who have faced tough away fixtures to Cove Rangers and Falkirk.

The solitary point they have to their name this season came from a home draw with Montrose and East Fife are back on their home patch this weekend when Dumbarton visit.

Bayview boss Darren Young is expecting an open and entertaining game, but is backing his men to come out on top.

He said: “Hopefully there will be a lot of goals in the game - preferably for us.

“We always have good games against them and they had a good result away from home last weekend (beating Airdrie 2-0).

“So they’ll be confident, but hopefully we can put that back down and get a good result for ourselves.”

East Fife were unable to trouble Falkirk away from home last Saturday, the hosts scoring either side of the interval to make sure of a convincing 2-0 win.

East Fife were able to draw on some positives, though, ending the game particularly well against their full-time opponents.

Young added: “We had that spell towards the end where we hit the bar and put a couple of crosses along the face of goal.

“We know what went wrong in the game and it’s always difficult when you’re up against the full-time sides.

“But we’ve done well against them in the past and will look forward to this weekend’s game against Dumbarton.”

Following his opening day sending off against Cove, Danny Denholm is available again.
