East Fife defender Aaron Dunsmore says side will bounce back

Aaron Dunsmore says East Fife won’t dwell on Saturday’s loss at Airdrie and instead set out to take maximum points from now until the end of the season.

The Fifers were arguably the better team during the weekend’s 1-0 loss at the Penny Cars Stadium, but returned to the Kingdom with nothing to show for their efforts.

Dunsmore, who came off the bench in the second half, says it’s important the side quickly re-sets ahead of a massive game this weekend against Montrose.

“We have eight games left in this quarter and in every one we have to get as many points as we can,” he said.

“We have a target each quarter and next up is a big game against a team who are near to us in the table.

“We play Montrose and then Raith Rovers, but we’ll look to Saturday first and try to get the win.”

Dale Carrick’s early strike settled the game on Saturday, with the Fifers perhaps wasteful in possession as they pushed for an equaliser.

“I don’t think we played too badly to be honest,” said Dunsmore.

“What separated us was a penalty, but we were the better team towards the end of the game.

Airdrie were sitting in and protecting their lead, but if we were better in the final third then we would have got the three points out of the game.

“We’re a team who likes to attack so were just pushing everything forward.

“We have to be better and sharper though.

“If we got it to 1-1 we’d have won it.

“The penalty looks soft but if you give good teams like Airdrie a goal then it’s harder to try and break them down.”
