Thomas Collins is a player who needs little introduction to the Fife supporters after playing a key part in BSC Glasgow’s Scottish Cup toppling of the League One side last season.

He scored one and won a penalty for another as the Lowland League club advanced with a 4-3 win.

Boss Young is pleased to have the forward onside for the new season.

He said: “Thomas scored 19 goals last year for BSC.

“In the games myself and Tony (McMinn, East Fife assistant) saw of him he scored goals as well and stood out.

“It’s an opportunity for him now.

“He was at Queen’s when he was younger so has had to go down to come back up again and has shown that hunger and desire to prove himself.

“That’s the type of player we want.

“He’s good in the air for his height and makes really good runs in behind.

“He knows where the goal is.”

The Fifers announced the re-signing of Craig Watson and Aaron Dunsmore this week but one who hasn’t yet committed to the club is forward Anton Dowds.

Young added: “Anton has a couple of offers from full-time clubs so is holding off.

“We’ll have to see what’s going to happen with that.

“I’m delighted to get Craig Watson and Aaron Dunsmore signed and particularly to get Aaron on a two year deal.

“We have a good squad now but I’m still looking to add another couple of signings.”

Departing the club this week are forward Lewis Baker and midfielder Lewis Hunter who spent the end of last season on loan at Albion Rovers.
