Darren Young takes his East Fife side to visit league new boys Cove Rangers on Saturday knowing full well the tough test they’ll pose.

Paul Hartley’s side were cantering towards the League Two title last season before the competitive campaign was brought to a halt early.

They boast a squad packed with quality, Fraser Fyvie and Rory McAllister just a couple of head turning names in their ranks.

Managed by experienced boss Paul Hartley, Young knows just what his men will face at the Balmoral Stadium.

The Fife boss said: “The league is bread and butter for us so we’re looking forward to Cove.

“They were unlucky at the weekend against Hibs by all accounts and I know what they’ll bring.

“I started out when I went part-time with Paul Hartley and Tam Ritchie, the fitness coach, so I know 100 per cent they’ll be fit and going non-stop the whole game.

“They’ll look to get the ball down and play, but that’ll suit us as well.

“We’ll go there, look to set up well and a get a victory.”

East Fife have started their Betfred Cup campaign with a win over Cowdenbeath and a narrow loss to Raith Rovers.

Young believes his side were worth more than the zero points they left Stark’s Park with on Saturday.

He said: “Apart from their penalty, for me Raith didn’t have a shot on target for the whole first half.

“I thought we started well and the whole performance was good.

“They had nothing on target again but then we make a mistake with a clearance after doing so well. We had chances up the other end but end up getting nothing from a game where we were the better team overall.”
