Fraser was red-carded for violent conduct and Davidson cautioned after the pair clashed at the weekend, however, the Methil midfielder sent an e-mail to the Scottish FA to confirm that there had been no intended or actual contact by his opponent.

Peterhead supplied video footage of the incident that they believed cleared Fraser however they also asked East Fife if Davidson would confirm that was case and the 27-year-old agreed to do so.

Fraser’s offence was down-graded to a yellow with Peterhead general manager Martin Johnston saying: “We would like to hand out huge plaudits to East Fife for passing on our request to Ross who deserves great respect for the sporting way he has gone about things. If would have been easy for him to shrug his shoulders and choose not to get involved especially as we won the game.”

“We believe that the appeals panel reached the correct decision after viewing the footage that was available and reading the note from Ross. As a club we will only make appeals that we believe will be successful, and whilst that has not almost been the outcome, our faith in the disciplinary system remains strong.”

“Gary is now available for selection for Saturday’s game against Partick Thistle.”
