East Fife make a belated return to Bayview on Saturday, with Methil boss Young hoping to exploit what home advantage games played without fans have to offer against visitors Airdrieonians.

Having had their scheduled game against Clyde last weekend called off at short notice after several Bully Wee players tested positive for coronavirus or had to isolate, the Fifers will be hoping for no such drama come this weekend when the Diamonds arrive in Methil.

Airdrie have really impressed at times this season and will go into the match sitting third in League One with 10 points from six games, six more than their hosts, though they’ve played one game fewer.

Games between the two are rarely dull so an exciting 90 minutes is on the cards in the kingdom.

Young is targeting claiming all three points to help climb the division and reel in those above them.

The boss said: “Airdrie are a big, strong squad and a good team.

“They’re already in that top half pushing for the play-offs so it’s going to be a very hard game – it always is against Airdrie – but we look forward to that.

“Ryan Wallace should be back and Ross Dunlop, who was struggling a bit, should be ok now as well.

“Danny Swanson will have had another week of training under his belt as well.

“We’ve done well so far at home, so we want to keep that going.

“It’s down to the players to get the standard up.

“The frustrating thing about the Partick game was that we started poorly and a few things went against us, but once we changed the formation, we started to create more chances, albeit without really testing the goalkeeper.

“We’ll to take the positives from that game into the weekend against Airdrie.”
