EAST Fife’s squad returned to pre-season training this week with Methil boss Willie Aitchison still looking to add to the numbers.
The New Bayview manager said the side came back in good shape, with the players having looked after themselves over the break.
The Fifers have hardly had time to draw breath over pre-season, having only completed their play-off fixtures in the middle of May.
This year’s campaign will kick-off at the weekend when the Fifers travel to Recreation Park to face Alloa.
The manager said his side look ready for their return to action.
He said: “We did all their tests on them when they came back and everything is fine.
“Footballers are a lot different nowadays and look after themselves when they’re on holiday.
“It’s been good to have them back in – there are a few different languages but all footballers seem to know the usual few words!”
The manager has a nucleus of a squad now in place at Bayview, with returning players, youth team promotions and new signings, including defender Joe Mbu, making up the number.
However, fans should expect another few faces to sign on.
Aitchison said: “There are still a few areas where me and Kevin (Drinkell, assistant manager) are looking to fill.
“We’re happy where we are with that, though.”
The manager added that striker Christian Nade has come through a minor procedure well and is now beginning strengthening work.
On Saturday’s visit to the central belt, the boss added: “It will be a really difficult test for us.
“Alloa did really well last season and have come on. Paul Hartley has proved himself to be a good coach.
“He’ll certainly not be looking to get off to a bad start with a poor performance.”
