Kyle Wilkie insists there will be no basking in the praise being heaped on East Fife following their 5-0 win over Berwick at the weekend.
Instead the Methil men should use the performance as a marker that sets a standard for the rest of the season.
The Fifers were outstanding on Saturday as they swept Berwick Rangers away at Bayview.
The crushing win was the perfect antidote after a 1-0 defeat to East Stirlingshire seven days previous.
But while the Methil men have rightly been lauded for their win at the weekend, Wilkie, who netted two of East Fife’s five goals, said it was important the club now builds on the performance.
He said: “The win was great for our confidence and we’ll take that into our next game.
“But it’s important that we keep doing the same things.
“Berwick had an off day against us but Saturday against Elgin will be a completely different game.
“We need to keep the consistency and make sure that our standards remain high.”
Everything went to plan for East Fife on Saturday with Berwick just no match for their movement and direct forward play.
Wilkie’s two goals were top class finishes and the midfielder was delighted to help chip in.
“I’m happy with it,” he said.
“It was a really good day.
“We have really good pace up front with Fash (Nathan Austin).
“The pace he has makes our jobs a lot easier.
“If we find him then we know he’ll finish.
“The win shows how good we can be and it was great to bounce back from last week like that.
“At half time we were told not to stop and we stuck to that and managed to get another couple of good goals as well.”
