GIVEN their superiority all over the pitch, East Fife may have been slightly disappointed to return with just the one point.

There was not much in it in the opening exchanges but the Fifers began to dominate early in the game.

A move started by Stevie Campbell, playing in midfield, brought Darren Smith into it and he found Bobby Barr who provided a dangerous cross.

An Alloa defender cleared with Paul McManus looking likely to get the opener.

The Fifers continued to dominate the game and a Smith effort from the edge of the area was blocked following a Barr pass.

The home ‘keeper went on to make a good save from Collin Samuel and a Campbell header was also saved.

The superiority eventually bore a reward when a Smith pass found Samuel who set up McManus.

He netted his third of the season giving the ‘keeper no chance.

The hosts quickly pulled level when a McCord corner was headed home by Marr, with little resistance from the Fife defence.

The Methil side overall still had the bulk of possession and a promising move was ended when an off the ball trip on Barr stopped the player getting a free run in on goal around 35 yards out.

Alloa forced a good save again from Calum Antell when he clawed away a decent strike from McCord.

The Fifers had the opportunity to get back in the lead when a Craig Johnstone run, one of many, and cross provided McManus with the chance, but his header was too direct and Bain managed to block.

A melee in the Fife goalmouth looked dangerous but, on the one occasion that Antell was beaten, Megginson’s attempt was headed clear off the line by Johnstone.

Both sides had chances before the end but Antell and Bain kept out both attacks to the end and the second sharing of the points at Recreation Park this term.
