Blantyre are three times winner of the tournament, having won in 1950, 1970 and 1982, but they have not made as much of an impact in recent years.

Vics play in the second tier of the West Region set-up and currently sit mid-table, having won two, drawn two and lost two their fixtures to date.

Tayport go into tomorrow’s match on the back of a defeat at the Warout Stadium, a result which brought to an end their nine game unbeaten run.

Boss John Ovenstone was clearly disappointed by the result, but moreso by the flat display by his charges.

“It’s not a case of being angry, but I’m very disappointed by the manner of our defeat,” said the gaffer.

“We did so well to beat Forfar West End, but didn’t show the same fight or desire against Glenrothes.

“I let the team down in that West End game, but I feel that they let themselves down at the Warout. “

Ovenstone is hoping to see his players respond positively.

“Everyone will have to fight for their jersey and, as a team, we want to bounce back from this defeat and go on another good run.

“We now go into the Scottish Cup, away to Blantyre and it will be another hard game.”

The player-manager is suspended so Drew Fleming may again deputise.
