Fife Thistle........................2 (AET)

Thistle travelled to face league rivals Methilhill Strollers in the second round of the Fosters Fife Cup.

But a last minute goal after two hours of football sent them crashing out.

Thistle were enjoying the better of the first half and Moir was inches away with an effort after good play from McLaren and then Barnes should have done better minutes later when he found himself one on one with the keeper.

Just three minutes from the break the home side got themselves in front when Good’s effort gave Henderson little chance.

The second half followed in similar vain to the first with the tempo high.

Thistle deservedly levelled the tie when Barnes powered home a header at the far post.

Just six minutes from normal time Methilhill were back in front with substitute Davidson applying the finish.

With time ticking away

Thistle were throwing everyone forwards and grabbed an equaliser four minutes into stoppage time when Barnes latched onto a Gough flick on to rifle the ball low past Paterson.

Extra time saw Thistle on top of their hosts with Moir coming close just a minute after the restart and then Barnes fluffed his lines when he rounded the keeper.

With the match looking destined for penalties, Thistle were hit with a sucker punch in the final minute when Brown conceded a free kick just outside the box.

Good stepped up and curled the ball over the wall and past the static Henderson. Alba Mortgage Solutions man of the match – Craig McShane.
