Central belt club Sauchie were the first club to complete their season in midweek, when a 2-0 defeat meant they finished on 32 points.

Saints currently prop up the division, but have four games remaining.

And gaffer Barrett says Sauchie’s final points haul is a target for his side to aim at.

“Sauchie are finished now so we know that maximum points from our last four games will see them finish below us.

“That’s what we’re aiming for.”

Results elsewhere didn’t go Saints’ way at the weekend, with Tayport racking up their second win on the trot.

United slipped to a home defeat, despite a good performance, at home to Kelty Hearts.

“Kelty were needing the points because they’re fighting at the top and we needed them to get away from the bottom,” said the boss.

“Both teams had something to play for.

“The other scores went against us but we know things are still in our own hands.

“Tayport have shown what a couple of wins in a row can do to the league table.”

This weekend Saints are without a competitive fixture.

However, the club has arranged a home friendly against Dundee North End at 1pm.
