Fit-again Barr delighted to be part of Raith's play-off push

In a repeat of last year, the defender’s campaign only started in February after making a second comeback from long term injury.

“It’s a bit deja vu for me from last year, and it’s not been ideal, but the gaffer has put me in for several games now, and however many games I play until the end of the season, I’ll take it,” Barr said.

“I’m happy, I’m fit and I feel good and whatever the gaffer does will be for the best of the team. I’ll support the team right to the end and hope I can be on the field doing that.”

Barr has certainly impressed since returning from injury with some solid displays at the back proving, as he did last seaon, that when fit, he can be a huge asset at Championship level.

“I’ve not played many games for Raith - it’s been a bit stop-start,” he said. “I just want the season to keep going and play as many games as I can. I hope that carries on into the play-offs, and it’s a better finish to my time at Raith.”

Whether his future lies at Stark’s Park or elsewhere, Barr, who is out of contract in the summer, is looking forward to kicking on after two seasons of injury hell.

“People were probably wondering where I’ve been at times and what on earth was going on with the injuries, but I just want to forget about it,” he said. “I’m fit and healthy and ready to play.

“Whatever I do in the summer, as long as I’m fit and healthy I’m going to be happy and it’s going to be brighter than the past 18 months.”

Barr was speaking after making his sixth appearance of the season in the 2-1 win at St Mirren Park on Tuesday night. “It’s a massive win for the boys, and has topped off a good month for us,” he said.

However, despite opening up a 10 point gap in fourth, Barr insisted that the play-offs are not yet done and dusted.

“I can see why you would say that, but from a player’s point of view it’s not over until we mathematically can’t be caught,” he added.

“We’re under no illusion - we’re going into every game as if it’s our last, trying to beat who’s in front of us, and taking it a game at a time. If it happens, it happens, but we just want to keep our run of form going.”
