After a opening quarter where both teams were bedding into the game it was the hosts who struck first blow when a King free kick was headed past Paterson after slack marking allowed Gibson to open the scoring.

It was almost 2-0 a few minutes later when Ballantyne brought out a fine save from Paterson.

It was a disjointed looking KSH as Dunbar again forced Paterson into action with another save this tie from Handling.

There was very little to offer in attacking threat from Kennoway and it was no surprise they went further behind when Ballantyne scored with a sensational turn and strike into the top corner.

Kennoway had a corner kick and as they tried to get something back to get into the game they were hit with a lightening counter attack when Chris Grant raced clear on the left and his inch perfect cross was met by the in form Dean Ballantyne who fired low into the net and sent the hosts in at the interval with a well merited 3-0 lead.

Dunbar began the second half in similar fashion and within six minutes they had increased their lead to four when a great run and cross from full back Keith Tait was met on the volley by Dean Ballantyne who watched his acrobatic effort sail high into the net for his second hat trick in successive weeks.

Kennoway were left stunned and four minutes later it was 5-0 after another good run and cross from Keith Tait picked out Darren Handling who made half a yard of space for himself and drilled a low shot into the net.

Kennoway toiled away and a long range effort from Gay narrowly went over the crossbar. Wilson then saw an effort saved as it was evident the game was gone and the Scottish Cup run was over.
