Football clubs are put into cold storage

Glenrothes and Thornton were unable to play at the weekend - but Kennoway were in action.

A host of our amateur sides found themselves frozen out at the weekend as the weather forced pitches to become unplayable.

Junior sides Glenrothes and Thornton Hibs were also left kicking their heels.

Kennoway did play - but will be wishing they hadn’t, going down 2-0 at home to Dalkeith Thistle.

It should hopefully be a return to business this weekend for the trio of local club who are set to contest both league and cup ties.

For Glenrothes, they are on East of Scotland Cup duty.

And it’s set to be a tough task for John Martin’s men as they travel to meet Super League title challengers Penicuik Athletic.

With no pressure on them, Glenrothes can go into the game in a relaxed frame of mind.

For Kennoway and Thornton Hibs, it’s league business at the weekend.

Hibs sit just two points off the top of the McBookie.com North Division table and will look to keep pace with those at the top when they travel to meet third bottom Forfar Albion.

Despite slipping up on Saturday, Kennoway Star Hearts kept their place at the summit of the East Premier League.

Alex Davidson’s men have impressed since the start of the campaign and have a decent chance to reinforce their place on Saturday when they travel to Tranent.

The hosts have struggled to put a decent run together and sit in tenth place.
