Chris Silvestro (40) was part of the squad that clinched the 2008-09 Second Division title in the last of his four seasons at Stark’s Park.

The midfield dynamo made 106 appearances for the club after joining from Albion Rovers in 2005 and played under three managers - Gordon Dalziel, Craig Levein and John McGlynn.

Silvestro has retained a connection with the Kirkcaldy club through appearances at former players events, and wanted to show his appreciation for the support he received both during his time at the club, and afterwards.

And thanks to his generosity, one supporter can now get their hands on a unique piece of club memorabilia.

“I was reading about the fundraising appeal on social media, and I was thinking about how I could help,” he told the Press.

“Financially, everyone is in the same boat, but the medal is something that I can give back to the club.

“It’s just sitting in a drawer gathering dust, so I spoke to my wife and she thought it was a great idea.

“Hopefully it can raise some money.”

Silvestro, who hails from Belshill, recalls his time at Rovers fondly.

“I had four years of blood, sweat and tears, and great memories,” he said.

”The medal just topped off being there for that length of time.

”Some supporters slaughter you and some praise you but during my time at the Rovers the fans were brilliant, especially the away ones.

“It’s something that’s always going to be part of you.

“Any nights or events that I can make are always great wee nights and nobody walks past you without how asking how you are getting on.

“It’s a special place.”
