The summer signing from Luton Town has slotted into his favourite centre half position following the injury to Iain Davidson, and says he is enjoying his time on the pitch, paired alongside team captain Kyle Benedictus

He said: "When I first got into the team I was playing full back, which is a position I can play in, but with Davo being injured it's forced the manager's hand to move me to centre back which is my preferred position.

“Now I've had a few games playing there, I definitely feel a lot more comfortable and I'm enjoying it.

“Davo and Bene pass on on their experience to younger players like myself and others in the team.

“It's helped me to fit in a lot easier and Davo's been great with me. He's been speaking to me and giving me bits of advice.”

The 22-year-old says he has “mixed emotions” after Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Dunfermline during which he scored his third goal of the season to put Rovers two up.

“I thought we played really well as a team,” he says, “and the experience of playing in a derby, even though there weren't any fans there, felt different to a regular game in the league.

“It was disappointing to lose two goals so quickly after being 2-0 up. In the changing room at the end of the game it definitely felt like a loss to us. It didn't feel like a point gained.

“But in hindsight, when we played the game they were top of the league, so to get a point might not be the worst result in the world.”

Musonda says he is now looking forward to testing himself against Ayr United on Friday night.

With the match being shown live on the BBC Scotland channel, the defender says it’s an chance for armchair fans to see how well Raith are playing.

“It's another exciting game to be in,” he says.

“I missed the game on TV against Hearts but playing Dunfermline in the derby was an exciting one for us and to be on TV again is an opportunity for people to see us who might not normally watch Raith Rovers.

“It gives people the chance to see how good we are.”
